Occupying a railway arch in London's buzzing Flat Iron Square, Bar Douro was created as a way to bring authentic Portuguese food to London. With ties to Portugal traced back through the family, Bar Douro has matched exquisite Portuguese wines with all the tradition of local Portuguese food. The atmospheric 30-cover marble counter-top dining space offers an intimate window to the best of Portuguese culinary heritage.
Produce is king in the kitchen of Bar Douro, Ingredients are sourced locally with specialist products imported directly from artisanal producers across Portugal. A small-plate focused menu draws inspiration from the cervejarias and tascas of Lisbon and Porto and include classics like Bacalhau à Brás (salt cod hash) and Octopus with sweet potato.
"One of the few places that genuinely qualifies as a wine bar, you'll find this congenial little blue and white tiled Portuguese joint in Flat Iron Square, not far from Borough market. Despite the name, the all-Portuguese wine list extends well beyond the Douro region and bottles and vintages you'd be lucky to find elsewhere. Winemakers visit regularly so get on the mailing list for winemaker dinners"
